I can't fade-in my video

I've pasted a .MTS file from my Panasonic digital camcorder into the timeline. This is in Vegas Pro 22. I tried to add a fade in from black, but what I keep getting is a crossfade, which effectively does nothing. What I've been doing is grabbing that little "triangle with two arrows" icon and dragging it from 0:00:00:00 to 0:00:02:00. Rather than getting a dark blue envelope line from bottom to top, I'm getting two crossing lines, like a crossfade between two events.

What am I doing wrong?

@Al_Korzonas There must be another event at the start of your timeline, grab your video & drag it to the right to uncover the hidden event.

----------

The 00 at the start of the audio track happens when you add one event on top of another, like I say there's a hidden event behind your video event. (Expand Track Layers will show this event)

I closed Vegas Pro 22, re-opened it on a different file, which allowed me to add the fade-in. I then re-opened this problematic file and looked for a hidden event behind the event. There wasn't one there. So, I tried the fade-in again and it worked. It seems as though Vegas Pro was just confused or I had done something wrong in my previous editing session. I will choose your comment as the solution, because that's likely what is the problem for most people experiencing this issue. Thanks!
