I can't figure out how to transfer my presets

Cottrell-Cottrell wrote on 12/7/2025, 12:55 AM

I just purchased a license for Vegas 23 from my old Vegas 19. I am completely lost on how to transfer over my effect presets. They are listed in the new 23 program, but aside from the names, they don't have any of my modifications and are basically all just default settings.

Can anyone help me with this?

My Vegas program is 23.

My OS is Windows 11.

To which specific FX in Vegas Pro 23 is this behaviour happening.

@Dexcon FX like Levels and Color Corrector Secondary, to name 2. I just now saw that the same applies to some of my transitions. Like, the icon with the name of my custom preset is there in the window, but when I apply it to a video clip it either does nothing, or behaves like the default FX/transition rather than the custom preset I had created.

Levels and Color Corrector (Secondary) are basic VFX which I don't think have changed in years. Indeed, I have presets in Levels created years ago that still work in VP23. However, I do vaguely recall that many years ago there was a time when a new version of VP didn't recognise earlier custom FX presets (the preset names didn't even appear) so I loaded the old project/s into the new version of VP and saved the preset names again with the old preset name/s.

Is that all it would take? Just opening one of my old Vegas 19 files into my new 23, and then saving the presets again? If it's that simple, I'd be very relieved. I'll report back once I give this a try.
