I can't open my videos on mobile

VegasEkingo wrote on 1/27/2021, 2:11 AM

Hi guys, I love Vegas, I'm new to Vegas, I have tested many video editor but when I tried Vegas I liked it.

But what the stupid problem I face!!! I couldn't open Sony Vegas videos with some programs in my Laptop, but no problem at least I have a video player that support your video codec. But the biggest problem, I'm the one who love to montage some short video moments and send them to Whatsapp. But I couldn't neither open them in my phone nor send them to Whatsapp why why why?? what the stupid problem. Every time I have to open a video converter in my Laptop, then change the video codecs then send it on my phone... whyyy? If I want to montage a video for youtube yes it's not a problem for me, as I'm already will put an effort in my video so after spending horrible time on montage for sure some minutes of converting isn't a problem... but but when I'm about to share some moments on Whatsapp, I do this thing repeatedly, and whatsapp videos didn't take from me a hard time, so it's a big problem to me

What the thing that restrict me from using Camtasia Studio or any other video editor while I can design my videos and without any converting I can save them to my phone then open them.

I think you should take more time when you write and skip the profanity.

To start with you need to state what codec you rendered to. Can you share a screenshot of your render settings?

Vegas Pro supports many codecs including those that phones work with. The most popular these days is AVC (h.264) which you can render to from MagixAVC or SonyAVC. I used this on my Samsung and Pixel phones and they worked fine with the native app.

YouTube will accept all kinds of formats though AVC also is a good choice.

If you know what format your phone supports you can also share that here and we can say if it works for Vegas, too.

"whatsapp videos didn't take from me a hard time"

Is it happening like sending the file / document when you do drag-n-drop a video file from PC to WhatsApp Desktop ?

If so, then try install voukoder https://www.voukoder.org/ - and render via voukoder. MP4 file created via voukoder can be drag-n-drop and become a Whatsapp video automatically.

Hi, first thank you for help.

Sorry for profanity maybe I get something warm wrongly from enthusiastic, but moderator thankfully edited it.

I render my videos with this format usually

And oh maybe my format was wrong I will try to use your AVC h.264 format next time. Btw, my phone is Samsung note 8 (android 9) and there's no need of naming the phone as approximately every phones support the same codecs except the weird M.2 sony Vegas codex

First, thank you also for help

I use the same method you mentioned, I already have a video converter, so every time I create a video by Vegas I go to my video converter to change the codecs. And this what I complain about, because it's a long procedure, I usually just want to create a fast quick videos then send them to Whatsapp, like if I saw a footage in Youtube I like, I record it then split and cut the clips in Vegas then send them to Whatsapp. It's a really easy, but with also a mission to go to Video converter, it's sometihng a long

H264 is standard, the format you are using is ancient and HDV isn't normal to use with smartphones. I used Sony and MagixAVC with my own Galaxy.

Voukoder works within Vegas so it's not an external converter. It supports a few added codecs. Not necessary for just getting a playable file but it's fast and I use it.

Great, thank you again

Oh now I understood it, btw I tried it and failed, but I will try your AVC format next time. Thank you RougerS and Set for your help. A great people you're.

Now moderator you can close the topic

Tried what and failed? Voukoder? Download both Voukoder and the connector for VP 18. Then restart Vegas and you'll see Voukoder as an option when you go to render.

Ooooh thaank you, I mindlessly just downloaded the Connector without the main program.

Now I fixed that and it worked!

The big advantage of Voukoder is higher quality files at quite low bitrates.

From another thread you apparently need to keep Whatsapp videos under 16MB, which is tiny. Note that Voukoder uses the project resolution, so for lower resolution temporarily change that in your project settings, or within Voukoder apply an output filter to rescale it to a lower resolution.
