I cannot render to an AVI file (PAL .avi)

I have run into a big problem right in the middle of an urgent production. For some reason I cannot render to an AVI file (PAL .avi). When I play the AVI file back the sound is OK but the picture is a Mosaic. Play back is the same in video factory so media-player is not the problem.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Everything has been going very well up to now on my new PC. (P3 with a 1gb processor and DMA100 drive. I am running VF 2.0).

One clue is I have been trying to up-grade to Vegas and have been told that VF2.0 is not registered despite having the licence No. Could this have anything to do with my problem?

I have tried everything, except reinstalling VF, I am reluctant to do this because of the registration and licensing problems that a lot of people seem to be having.

What are you avi render settings? Is this a fixed template or have you customized it?

I have discovered what was causing the problem. I been using region higgling, to break a shot up into cut-a-ways and then rendering each region. This worked fine until I tried to change the brightness of the shot by placing an FX on the shot. It seems you cannot add an FX to the shot and then break it up by using region or split.

Now that I am simply highlighting the region and rendering each shot everting works OK.

Any comments will be appreciated, as I would like to know if I have got it right.
