I am trying to figure out the following and am drawing a blank.
There are a number of ways to get clips recorded on the new memory recording device - CF cards - shipped with the S270/Z7 cameras.
A new way is to use Vegas Pro 8.0c, 'File -> Import -> Memory recording unit'. Works fine and it imports everything on the card - AVI, idx etc .
You can also use file copy directly from the CF card by connecting the unit using firewire and using explorer to navigate to the folder and copying all the AVI files. Then you can 'Import' those to Vegas (any version).
My question is the following:
If I use the new feature in 8.0c, the AVI and IDX files have quite different filenames, e.g.:
00_0001-83C43937.AVI
00_0001_2008-09-23_122007.IDX
On the other hand, using file copy, the names look like this:
00_0002_2008-09-15_113158.AVI
00_0002_2008-09-15_113158.IDX
Now the mystery! Just using file explorer to look at the CF card, the filenames follow the second format.
So why is it different when 'Imported' by Vegas, as I described in the first case?
Inquiring minds need to know. Perhaps ForumAdmin would care to comment?
Tks
