I'm happy (believe it or not)

I feel bad for everyone struggling to get new versions of Vegas and new computers in sync and working. It's kinda depressing to read all the problems in these forums. I've been lucky... I've never had a problem with anything that I can remember (knock on wood). But all this bliss comes at a price... I really haven't upgraded in years... nor have I changed anything with my system (maybe a DVD burner here and a second HD there). Mostly because of the $$$ it would cost (my kid's braces come first).

How's this to make you all wince: I'm still editing extrodinarily well on a Dell P3-866 MHz computer with a 32 meg 4x video card, 120 gig HD and 512 meg of RAM. I even still use a modem to connect to the Internet! Obviously, since I only produce video as a side job with about six weddings and a dozen other small jobs each year, I don't need the latest and greatest (although I'm sure my experience would be awesome).

**IDEA** It would be great if this forum could be yet again subdivided into "Problems" and "Creative Ideas." It is truly tiring going through the litany of problems looking for some creative juices.

Trust me, you all have ALWAYS helped me... so keep up the good work... and I hope everyone figures out their problems before the next motherboard or camera or software version come out and the cycle repeats itself.

Best of luck to all of us.

I don't have any problems with my system or Vegas. The key being that if one has good troubleshooting skills, understand Windows, know their system's components well, should be able to handle most if not all computer related issues. Its those unfortunate souls that have basic skills that will have the most problems.

I've gotta agree, I can't remember having any problems with any build of Vegas but then I don't push the envelope. There's sure a heap of things that don't work the way I'd like them to or things that just aren't there but I'm yet to strike a problem where Vegas didn't do what it was advertised to do and I can honestly say I've had it crash less than 5 times in about three years in which time I've processed 1000s of hours of video and audio and authored around 400 DVDs.

Had to chuckle when I saw your post. I have a PIII 866mhz, 512, 32mb video card, 30GB system drive, kind of machine too. I've nicknamed it Lightening. Just loaded V6 (trial) a couple of days ago and it's still humming along. Of course, I had to live with a 9 1/2 hour render of a 90 minute show being converted from VHS to MPEG-2 for DVD this weekend but hey, set and forget it. Go to bed and it's ready the next morning.
Aloha,

Maybe we can form a club ?!?!?

I'm using V5 on a PIII 933, 80+80 gig drives, 512 megs of ram. 64 meg vid card.

Hasn't affected my creativity .
