Instead of doing Shit+M and then Enter, I would like to have a script that does those two steps so I can assign it to a single letter. Is there such a script somewhere? And if not, can somebody give me a clue on how to write it? I imagine it must not be hard.
IF you have a button device, could that sequence be mapped to a, say, Contour Shuttle Pro?
Actually, I find the finger exercise thoroughly invigorating! - And yes i DO use this as part of my workflow. Now that I own a QUADIE, which makes this Vegas feature fly and gets me to my ideas fast, Prerenders have become essential for me.

I use prerenders a lot too, but tell me if it's not really aggravating to you to have to close Vegas every few prerenders because Sony Creative can't get it right. I suppose the same must happen to you, you do a few prerenders and eventually the blue bars don't show anymore and playback is obviously not reading from the prerendered files, even though it's supposed to, and the only workaround is to close Vegas and reopen it.
I'm actually considering ditching Vegas altogether, as much as I like it overall, because I find really aggravating having to waste time closing and opening a project every ten or fifteen minutes just to keep prerendering.
Nope, I don't have your issues. Have you looked to see where you have your prerenders forming? Is it full of files? I often go ahead and delete old, redundant files. Do you?
After you find something that is better, and have completed half a dozen projects with it, please post back here so we can know what to go to. I never upgraded to 8.x because of all the problems posted in this forum. Therefore, I have zero crashes or problems. Unless you truly need one of the very small number of new features in 8.x, you could always go back to 7.0d. That would be my recommendation.
However, having made that suggestion, I must admit that it increasingly looks like I don't have a future with Vegas, because the pace of innovation has exponentially slowed; the demonstrated desire to fix fundamental flaws is no longer apparent; and what little has been release since 6.x has been increasingly bloated and buggy.
Therefore, I'd love to switch to something else, but I have yet to hear anyone in these forums or elsewhere suggest an alternative which provides the outstanding sound editing combined with scripting, extremely intuitive interface, etc.
So, if you DO find something, then after you have used it to make sure it really is the real deal, and that it really and truly works, please let us know.
