so i make 10 min long videos in vegas daily. to make the vids i get around 20 clips of gameplay.split each clip (7 frames from the start and 7 frames from the end) to then add a transition effect. and since every clip needs the same area clipped (7 from start and end) i was wondering if there was a way i could sort of "mass split" the clips?

Sounds like something that might be accomplished with a script?

I'm not sure I'm understanding this, but couldn't you create 20 video tracks by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Q, then select all your clips and press G to group them. Then if you pressed M at the 7 frame mark in and M at the 7 frames out, and press S, wouldn't that split them all the way down? Then you could copy and paste your transitions in. Is that sort of what you are asking? You could save that .veg as a rough template to use again.
