I really hate the new interface!

Come on, Magix programmers! Have you never heard the old programmer’s maxim, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!? So, where is the track effects button? It used to be right at the track head. Now it is buried under a piles of rubber. Please bring it back! I use it (well, used to use it) all the time.

Click on the 'Hamburger' / '3 lines' icon > Edit Visible Button Set..., and then check mark on the 'Track FX' to make it always ON.

And you may want to close the current Vegas Pro 15 too, to 'save' the current UI setup as default. Relaunch VP15 and now you should see the TrackFX there.

Rule #1 DONT PANIC !

Rule #2 See rule #1

I also prefer the v14 interface, so I have been tweaking v15 to look like v14. It isn't exactly the same, but pretty close. You absolutely can set the track fx button on the header. And the event header will be able to be switched off in the next update (so we have been told.)

@Kinvermark, like to know, can you share your setup interface screenshot, how does it look now?

OK, not perfect, but not too bad :)

Anyone who wants an interface closer to what Vegas 14 had, you can use the "Vegas 14 default" layout in the main menu (or press Alt+D and then V). It won't change the color scheme, but it will move the windows around and set up the buttons like previous versions of Vegas. And in the first update, this layout will also hide the event headers.

I suggest that those who do not like the new interface try working with it for a week, not a few minutes, and then comment. You may likely find that you now prefer the new version. This happened to a user of a different product. He hated the new interface, gave it few days, saw the benefits, would not go back to the old one.

Does that mean that the button layout is also stored in the view layout?

I think that is important information and maybe a reason why the changes to the buttons don't stick for some users?

Wish it would 100% revert to a legacy 14 look. Icons, colors, _everything_

I don't understand the overhaul. I know you guys are trying but I can't get used to it. It's uglier and cumbersome. I'll reserve final judgement on it though until after the event headers are hidable as mentioned.

Regardless of whether I migrate or not thanks for keeping Vegas alive.

Has anyone since found a way to tweak these awful button icons ? They really look ugly and that blue background makes them look even uglier, like some pokemon shit. I hate that festive bloat.

Kinvermark wrote on 2/9/2019, 9:21 PM

Yes. You can change colours and partially/totally desaturate them if you want. Look in preferences.

Marty111 wrote on 2/9/2019, 9:55 PM

Thanks Kinvermark, you save my life ! But no way to change the M and the S icons I guess ? they should have drawn either letters or signs but not both. And certainly without a circle.

Adi-W wrote on 2/9/2019, 11:58 PM

Absolutely agree here about the Mute and Solo icon. Icons are small images and so using 2 different symbols to represent a same function is quite inadequate and inneficient and just brings more confusion than clarity. It's really a design mistake.
And the other track icons (on the left) look like colored candies and it is now much less clear which functions they represent compared to V14. This is usualy what happens when you decide to bring change just for bringing a change.

Marty111 wrote on 2/10/2019, 3:16 AM

Exactly they look like stupid iphone icons. Apparently the developers though of us as immature consumers, not as workers or artists. Huge mistake, even despise from them.

Trensharo wrote on 2/10/2019, 1:49 PM

Unsure how anyone can prefer blinding grey to dark grey...

Also, the hamburger menus and button bars are fine. The defaults are just awful. Almost everything is hidden - very important buttons - and the pre-installed layouts include the button layouts in them. So ,if you move anything and then reset the layout, all of the buttons you've made visible disappear. That's just a bad design decision.
