I seriously HATE Digital Juice software install!

I had two Digital Juice products before: Photo Knockouts and Ready2Go volume 1. I just got Ready2Go 2-4. Somehow my initial Ready2Go 1 and Photo Knockouts installs became corrupted. That was my starting situation.

Now about 4 days after geting delivery of Ready2Go volumes 2-4, I am still installing! I am not exaggerating. This absolutely sucks!

Photo Knockouts has been installing since yesterday. Now it stopped in the middle of disk 5. No error message or anything like that. I started again from disk 1 and have skipped back up to disk 5 to try again.

If I had known how long it took for Digital Juice stuff to install, I simply wouldn't have bought it,

I do agree that DJ's installation hoops suck. I've had few that went without an issue, but they do install OK.

I make an iso file for each of their disks and use Virtual Clone Drive to "mount" them to my PC. It does install the DJ product faster and I only have to load the disk once.

However, DJ does have an outstanding support department (probably necessitated by their byzantine installation process) - give them a call.

Does anyone else have a problem with the Juicer needing to run in Administrator mode under Windows 7? That's what I hate.

I stopped buying their stuff long ago.
Most of it is banal, their installer and "Juicer" a pain and their shipping costs offensive.
For the same money you can buy the software they use, for the amount of time you waste with their "Juicer" and installing things, you can learn to use the software. End result is something unique and the quality of it depends on your skills. A much more rewarding experience.

Well after four days of a six product install, it is finally up and running. The Ready2Go templates are very good, but they do look like template stuff. Anyway, I would never use them in an art project, but for the local commercial stuff I do, they are just perfect. That is how I will use them. Two, maybe three local commercials with them and they will have paid for themselves.

Agree with Laurence.

The templates are a bunch of nested veggies and they bring my reasonably well configured system to its knees previewing. You need to drill down and figure out just which veggie you need to update to make changes.

I imagine they are nowhere near as NLE friendly as the the AE versions.

They are perfect for certain audiences, though.

I just noticed why the nested projects are so darned CPU intensive. They are done in 3d source alpha. No reason to do that with a bunch of nested timelines. I would say that is a programming mistake. I just set all the nested segments in the template I am currently working on to source alpha instead of 3d source alpha and it looks the same and takes maybe one tenth the overhead.

You know, I tried to install another Digital Juice product and now I have to reinstall all the Ready2Go sets again! This is probably going to take several days again. No exaggeration!

It has something to do with me not installing it where DJ wants me to install it and therefore not installing the proper copy protection bit to that alternate location. This time I reassigned the drive letter of my drives so that maybe it will actually do it properly.

For anyone considering Ready2Go, think long and hard. Yes it is a great product, but make sure you have a couple of days to install, and set aside a few days for a reinstall should you ever add another Digital Juice product and need to update the "Juicer". This sucks.

I wonder what they would do if I sent them an invoice for the amount of extra labor their copy protection has cost me billed at my regular hourly rate?

Thanks for the warning....

I did that to a doctor once. At least he got the message
