Each letter in the text should change color when a note sounds.
When the next note sounds, the next letter will change color and so on.
The animation should be smooth and synchronized with the audio waveform.

Options I have considered:

Keyframes in the Text Color option.
Split the text into several layers and change their color manually.

Is there a more efficient way to do this without animating each letter manually?
Can any effects or plugins be used in VEGAS to detect the audio and change the colors automatically?
Are there any advanced scripts or methods to help synchronize text with audio in VEGAS Pro 22?
