i7 4790K (VERY LONG RENDER/Laggy 1080/4K Playback)

As stated above, I'm not enjoying my Sony Vegas experience as much as I used to. Mainly becase I have an I7 4790K, 16GB Ram, and a Radeon R9 380 GPU. I'm still getting laggy playback on 1080p & 4K vintage. Ontop of that, I am receiving VERY SLOW RENDERS. A 25 Min Video is taking me damn near 4-5 hrs. This is actually upgraded pc compared to what I used to have. I once owned a cheap AMD HD 5760 & that handled the renders like a champion. What the hell is going on here?

Same general problem here, though the specs on my machine are less than yours. A 2 1/2 minute video (with about 3 plug-ins on each of the 2 test clips, is taking about 35 minutes to render. This never used to take this long with VP13. I've been talking to a tech support guy about my XFX Radeon R7 240, and we haven't come up with a solution. I'm going to start another discussion change, and ask the group "what is your render time for a video, and what GPU are you using?" Maybe we can get some answers.

@ chris-w

Renders and playback are a little different in that the older amd cards actually worked for encoders like Mainconcept whereas the newer cards are unsupported.  You should be seeing a big benefit to you timeline playback with a r9 380 however.

Take a look at the FAQ about these issues.  Other than that you would need to provide a lot more detail about your media and what you are doing to it.
