Icon on Desktop Is Wrong

LixiSoft wrote on 6/14/2006, 12:57 PM
I have just updated to the latest version on VMS. After the update the icon for the shortcut on my desktop displays the generic MS shortcut icon and not the Sony VMS icon. I have everything set to the Sony default install. When I go to the properties for the icon, I get a message that says "vegasmoviestudioPE60.ico not found". I tried to reinstall the update and I still have the problem. Did a search for the file and WinXP reports "file not found", any ideas on how to fix this.

Thanks for any help,
LixiSoft

I can't help you fix it, but i may be able to help you get an icon there that you like.

Right-mouse-button click on the shortcut, choose Properties / Shortcut, click Change Icon, click Browse. Find the Vegas Studio .exe file, which is probably somewhere like C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Studio 6.0\ (depends on your installation, but i'm sure you can find it), click on the .exe file, click Open. You should now see a variety of icons that are included within the program. Choose the one you like and click OK.

Ok, I wasn't going to ask, but since the topic was raised....

Ever since I upgraded to VMS Platinum, the application icon has been correct, but the icon for the project files (.VF) have showed the old, orange icons.... the ones for VMS 5.0.

Not critical, but driving me crazy.

Similar to the previous suggestion, go into Windows Exporer, from the Tools menu select Folder Options, click the File Types tab, find the VF entry in the scroll list, click the Change button, find the Vegas executable.
