if your editing ever feels slow.....

I just finished working with some HDV files, and I was editing the m2t files rather than an intermediary (never again) and then I started working on some DV footage again. OH MY GOODNESS - what a beautiful thing to see. near full frame rates with color correction filters on, instead of 0.4 frames per second (the m2t files had more filters but still).

It's like I just got a new computer :D

I think Dave means "never again editing .m2t" without an intermediary. Believe it or not...there are those that just don't comprehend the benefit of what an intermediary really does.

Yes Douglas - just re-read it and that makes much more sense!

Dave,
I just captured (using Vegas) from my FX1. I am now rendering that file to a "new track" using intermediate template. If I edit the intermediary, how do I swap it for the "real" file to render MPEG 2 for DVD2 burning? Thanks for the help!

Right click the file in your MediaPool/Project media, and choose "replace." Point that to the m2t.
But frankly, if you're using the intermediate from CineForm, then just use that file for your render. It's 4:2:2, so can serve as your on-line source.
