If you want to block out a particular forum user for whatever reason, you clic on that tab and that users posts will no longer appear(for you) in the various threads. If you want to later remove the block, you go to "edit account", where you can remove the block.

...I'd like to set up something like this for my ex-wives...

"I thot the forum was telling me to ignore all users."

Wouldn't be much of a forum now would it?
I guess you'd come here to reflect. :)

The chat software i wrote allows users to ignore themselves and even send private messages to themselves. (I was lazy and didn't bother putting in the extra IF statement to prevent their own name from appearing in their lists ... so sue me.) I'm constantly amazed by people's constant amazement of this. I regularly get eMails and messages from chatters saying things like "wow! i can ignore myself! how cool is that?" or "i just discovered i can PM myself! what a hoot!". Then again, i have the occasional chatter who complains that he never sees his own messages on the screen even though he sees everyone else just fine. I'll check his profile and sure enough ... he's got himself ignored.

Maybe these people need lives? Hmmmmmm.

Chien,

"The chat software i wrote allows users to ignore themselves and even send private messages to themselves."

This is VERY handy for those of us with multiple personalities. Thanks for keeping us in mind.

Erk, you're most welcome and i'm glad you appreciate it. Just keep in mind that those two functions are mutually exclusive. You may have to have a little conference with your other selves to explain that to them. ;)

...what we need is an ignore button to ignore the ignore thingy ...
MyST wrote on 2/26/2003, 1:31 PM
Yeah, we could have it beside the "ignore this user" button.

>IGNORE THIS USER< >IGNORE THAT BUTTON<

For the multiple personality types, you might want to contact SoFo regarding the legality of your software ownership. It's clearly stated "Only one user per license."

>IGNORE THIS USER< >IGNORE THAT BUTTON<

...and if you pushed both buttons at the same time, you could ask and answer your own questions...

"...you could ask and answer your own questions..."

Please pay close attention to the multiple personality comments. You might find them useful. ;)

LOL! Good one Grazie!
Actually...record through your microphone. If you're hearing voices, and Vegas isn't picking up anything...

Holy sh*t ClipMan! I just scrolled back up this thread and noticed you wrote ex-WIVES! How can you still afford this software?? You must be cutting back on luxuries like food and toilet paper.
Maybe it's just one ex-wife but with multiple personalities??

"...and noticed you wrote ex-WIVES! How can you still afford this software?? ...."

...skimmed off a bit from the alimony cheques...waiting for a call from the lawyers...need an ignore feature badly...

What I'd like to see is an (Ignore This Thread) button - some threads have gone on WAY too long.
Grazie wrote on 2/26/2003, 3:31 PM
Did you say something?
Erk wrote on 2/26/2003, 4:06 PM
Myst - LOL ! (multiple licenses for my multiple personalities)

One of me is still stuck using Premiere. The Vegas mes tried to convert him but he had "ignore" on....

I think what we really need next to the "Ignore this user" button is an "IQ" knob. If you turn it down, you get all posts, and if you turn it all the way up you only get the SF posts.

Hmmm... I'm afraid I'd be cutting my own throat by suggesting this. Oh, well; it was nice talking with you guys...
