ilink

I am looking for general information here. It is tied to the editing in how to get the images to the editing sphere. Essentially I'm looking to update my computer soon and have been looking at the Sony Vaio NS20ES. This has an ilinkIEEE1394 4-pin to 4-pin. I've been use the 6-pin - 4-pin IEEE1394 firewire for my desktop. I am sure this is exactly the same lead, does exactly the same thing but thought I would ask on this forum if this is the case.

Also, can you plug in a mouse to a usb port to use it on laptops for editing. I'm used to using mouse on editing and would be lost without one.

Sorry that its not technically a question on the Vegas movie studio but the answers I've recieved here to questions tend to be excellent so i figured this is a solid place to ask for advice on this.

Yes, the only difference with 4-4 pin is that the cable doesn't carry power. But, since your camera has a 4 pin connector the power leads obviously weren't being used anyway. You will have to get a 4-4 pin cable, of course.

Yes, USB mice work just the same on laptops as they do on desktops. You can also get USB/PS2 adapters if you have a really nice PS2 mouse that you wish to use on your laptop.
