illegal colors

I just read in a book about broadcast colors and illegal colors. I checked a project and the colors do go down below the legal 7.5. I am not having any of the problems described in the book, but I'm wondering if it's good to always apply the broadcast color filter to bring the values between 7.5 and 100. Looking at the presets, it looks like the 'Conservative 7.5' filter is the best bet. I'm not sure about the Composite Max setting for this preset. I assume I just drag that to the track control pane. Any information about this topic is appreciated.

When you're working in DV the NTSC 7.5 setup doesn't apply. I'm a PAL man so I'm a but rusty on this stuff but I'm 98% certain there's no setup on NTSC DV.
Depending on what you're outputting to keeping your level legal may be a good thing or a bad thing!
For VHS yes I keep it legal using the BC FX, if it's going out to DVD then I leave it as is as the DVD players 'legalise' it anyway and doing it twice makes for 'flat' video.
