image resolution

I I build a video comprised of still images that are in high resolution, is there a way to render it so it will play on a DVD on NTSC systems but actually have a higher res and look better than something I would render with the plain old MPEG 2 codec?

The original material has a much higher res than ordinary NTSC, and it's frustrating to see it so decimated. If it plays on a screen any bigger than about 50 inches wide, it looks crappy.

Televisions are limited to NTSC (or PAL) resolution so it wouldn't matter if you did make the video file higher resolution. Even HD-TV is only slightly higher.

I don't know your playback needs but the WM HD format Vegas can render in is really outstanding . Check here for a demo:

Render it in HD then either project it with a capable HD projector or change the file ending to tp, purchase MY-HD 120 HDTV card and a new HDTV then look at it on the TV. It will astound you. But you have to have the stuff.
