Hello,
I have some problems with video sizes:
I have 2 mpeg2 files (both are : 720x480x32 : 29.970fps)
When i placed them in Vegas timeline 1st is OK but second doesn't take all the preview area, threre is a (black) frame all around the image.
Why this ?
It's not the first time i see two files whih same image size that have different proportion when i preview them.
Is there an other parameter i omitted ?
2 nd file has been extracted from a dvd (with DVDx) then rendered with Vegas to have the same format as first file.
Thank you very much for help.

Some media files have black edges. Often when converting from analog to digital some systems will mask the edges because they are distorted. The edges usually aren't seen on a television anyway, so you wouldn't miss them.

Position the cursor somewhere in that clip so that you have an image displayed rather than just all black. Open up Pan/Crop, right-mouse-button click in the cropping frame and choose Restore. Do you see the black border there? If so, it's part of the video clip. You can use the Pan/Crop tool to crop away the black border if you want to, but i would suggest leaving it there if your final output is television.

Thanks Chienworks for explanations. (Yes i see black borders in Pan/Crop after restoring by right-click., you are right : borders are included in the video file). I will try to see results on a TV. Thanks again.
