Image Trimmed When Burning DVD

I have created my project in VMS10 HD. The VMS project is in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

I have rendered the VMS file to DVDAS 5.0 as an mpg-2 and ac3 file. I burned the project to a DVD from DVDAS.

When I play the DVD, I notice that images have been clipped around the edges, i.e., some of the top and bottom is cut off. Is there anyway to prevent this clipping so that the DVD will show the full image that was displayed in VMS10?

Since I am using a 4:3 aspect ratio in both VMS and DVDAS, I do not understand why this is happening.

It's your TV, and the descriptive word is "overscan."
The solution is to zoom out on your image in Vegas, leaving borders on purpose. The preview overlay grid will give you some rough ideas of where the safe areas will be, although they will be different on every TV.

I am not understanding how to "zoom out" my picture in VMS.

I did adjust the "safe area" boxes in the Preview window to reduce the amount of the picture that is clipped. Is this what you are referring to?

You can move the safe areas all you want, but it doesn't change anything. Nothing is clipped or cropped. The safe area lines are simply a guide to remind you that everything outside the safe area is *not* guaranteed to display on the TV.

Bob,
Use Event Pan/Crop or Track Motion to change the size of an image in the frame. It is explained in the Vegas Help. The safe areas are an indicator only, as I stated.

Ok, I am familiar with the Event Pan/Crop feature. I often use it to set key frames to "zoom" in on an object. I did not realize that you could use it to "zoom" out beyond the image boundary shown in the Preview window.

I will give this a try.

Thanks - good tip
