Implementing "Play All" question

I'm using version 2 (build 22) and I love it. I seem to have a problem & maybe it's because I don't completely understand what's going on behind the scenes. Here's the deal:

I have a VERY basic project- one main screen and I've added 11 MPEG files onto it (each as a seperate "movie." The DVD is full to about 80% and the only extra thing I wanted to add was one more button onto the menu which would act like a "Play All" and play all of the 11 MPEG clips consecutively.

Now, I know that you can use the "Insert Music Compilation" to serve the same purpose. What I didn't realize in the past is that this appears to add the same clip twice to the DVD. So- as you can see- my DVD is already pretty much full and I don't have the room to add all of the clips a second time in order to create that "Play All" functionality.

Is there any way to do this by just linking to media files you've already added to your project???

Thanks!

Steve

Yes, you have to drop the media files again on the DVD menu but DVD Architect is smart enough to not actually add them twice. When you drop them a second time, set their end actions link to one another. DVD Architect will see that it already has the media for them and simply make a new chain of links but does not add the media to the physical DVD twice.

I didn't even do that. I have one menu button that goes to a chapter menu & one button that just plays the first chapter of the media, then it goes on to the next.

if the media is on the same track (ie 10 small clips on a single track) it will autoplay to the next chapter unless you tell it otherwise.

if you wanted the chapter menu to play just the one clip then go back to the menu, you just tell the button/link to go back to the menu.

Guys, thanks for the responses. I haven't been able to successfully set up what you both have suggested. I guess I don't completely understand your suggestion. I looked up the topic of chapters in the Help files and the stuff in the help files doesn't address the situation I'm in with linking multiple files (with the obvious exception of the Music workaround I mentioned in my original post).

Just so that I'm completely clear, I'm using Vegas Movie Studio + DVD and not one of the higher priced versions. I don't if that makes a difference with the procedures you've both outlined.

Any chance you can walk me through it with a little more detail??

If you prefer sending it in an email, send to me here: scoler <at> earthlink <dot> net

THANKS again!

Sorry, I didn’t realize you were using the Movie Studio version either. In the full DVD Architect 2.0a (Build 121) you can do an index search in the Help for “Play All” and it will explain what I was talking about (giving you three ways to accomplish this).

I assume you also want each movie to play and then return to the menu when it’s done, otherwise you could just link all the movies end actions to link to the next movie and then selecting the first will play all and selecting any other will play from that point on.
