hello
i exchange clips with one of my friends and we work with the quicktime container.

he exports his movie from final cut pro 4.1.1 (os X 10.3), here the settings
container : quicktime
compressor :dv pal
image size : 720x576 CCIR 601 / DV PAL (5:4)
pixel aspect ratio : PAL - CCIR 601
frame rate : 24ips
video only

then i import them to my vegas 5 (xp sp2)

here the settings of my project
720x576
frame rate 24
field order : lower
pixel aspect ratio : 1.0926 (PAL DV)
rendering quality : best
motion blur : gaussian
deinterlace : blend fields

then i render the file
rendering settings
same

results :
target : 169 455 octets (source : 169 479 octets)

the video is less large (about 55pixels) and notice the loss of 24 octets

any idea about what's happening ?

thanks

Doesn't Pal have a frame rate of 25, not 24?

yes you're right but the frame rate of my "final cut pro" export is 24 fps. if i export from fcp as a 25 fps, my movie becomes jerky. impossible to burn a PAL DVD (25fps)

i found a solution :
i import it in a 24fps vegas project and then i export it as a 25fps movie (which is not jerky).

i don't want to damage the file in my import / export procedure. i want to keep the same quality.

is my procedure correct ?

ps : if i choose 1.0926 or 1 as input and 1 as output the size is rendered correctly.
