IMPORT MUSIC FROM MIXER IN MULTIPLE TRACKS

I want to import (record) music from a mixer to my pc on multiple tracks. I gonna record music from a band, som I want to import all different sounds (guitar, drums..) on multiple tracks in Vegas.

What do I need, how do i do it and should I use Vegas?

Any help should be useful.

Of couse you can use Vegas!

You will need a multiple input soundcard. I use a MOTU 828mkII. There are others like the MAudio Delta 10/10. Cards like these have A/D converters in them. The 828 has 10 analog inputs (8 line inputs + 2 mic/line pre amped inputs) this is what you will be hooking up your mixer to. Then, basically you add as many tracks into vegas, arm them to record, and press record.

Is your analog mixer suited for this? You will need a mixer with multiple buss outs or with direct outs or even insert outs.. If your mixer only has a stereo output, you'll only be able to record onto 2 seperate tracks. so.. what mixer?
