Import of AfterEffects project

I've rarely used Adobe AfterEffects so I may not be aware of the most current file extensions for AfterEffects - so if anyone can clarify this for me I'd appreciate it: According to the new specs for Vegas Pro 12, it's supposed to be able to read AfterEffects project files via an Import. When you try an import from Vegas Pro 12, there is an option for ".pproj" files. Now from what I understand ".pproj" files are for Adobe Premiere Pro (hence the "pp" in the file's extension), not Adobe AfrerEffects. Yet there is no ".aep" import in Vegas Pro 12, and the help states that .pproj is used to import Above Premier Pro/After Effects project files (and there is no ".aep" extension on the Import menu). I have an actual AfterEffects project file but its file extension is ".aep" - for "AfterEffects Project" - and not .pproj that both the Import menu and the Vegas Help indicate are for AfterEffects. I even triied to import the .aep file and it was not recognized as a valid file that Vegas Pro 12 could open. Something is wrong here it would seem. Is it me or is it Vegas Pro? (sounds like the old commercial for Memorex tape - "is it real or is it Memorex?") Joking aside, any ideas?

What version of AE are you using? I read somewhere that it needs to be CS6.

Actually, I have AE CS3, but I'm not using it to import into Vegas Pro 12: I downloaded what is an AE Project that has the .aep extension and I don't know what version of AE was used. The project came from Boris Continuum.

That may be the problem. I only AE 5.5 so I have not bothered testing it yet.

It appears you have to export a pproj out of AE to do an import into Vegas. But don't expect much it only imports the raw footage and nothing that was done in AE.

A useless sales gimic.
