Import Subtitles Error

rtbond wrote on 10/28/2020, 9:55 AM

Hi,

When using the "Import Subtitles" operation in DVD-A (Build 100) I am getting a "An invalid argument was specified" error. The .sub file was created as I always have, by exporting Regions from Vegas Pro (Tools=>Scripting=>Export Regions as Subtitles). I have tried creating the .sub file from both VP-17 and VP-18 and each time the DVD-A import fails for the same reason.

Any thoughts on what might cause this error?

Thanks!

Can you post the name of the sub file created and its file location? And maybe the timeline showing the regions?

The .sub file is located in the project folder. The project is nearly 90 minutes long, so I not sure what you are looking for from the Vegas Pro timeline.

Not sure either, just thought we might see something that could present this error, like an incorrect filename or some bogus character. Not much else to go on from your description. Or could you possibly upload one of the bad sub files to dropbox or something so I could try it out on my version 12?

@Former user I took another critical look via Edit Details in Vegas Pro at the Regions (subtitles). This time I noticed there were 5 or 6 Regions with start and stop times of 00:00:00. Deleting them, Exporting Regions as Subtitles, and then importing into DVD-A fixed the problem. I am not sure how the VP project got those regions with zero length, but I am guessing it was because I reused an earlier Project as a template. Going forward it is probably best to delete all the old Regions at the start of the new Project. Thanks for your consideration.
