Imported AVCHD clips truncated audio in V10

I couldn't find the thread I remember reading on this issue. I dragged the folder from the SDHC card recorded in a Sony HDR-30v camcorder to a folder on my hard rive.
The clips are labled .MTS 1 through 3 (2 1.97GB files and a 580mb file).
Imported them into a V10 project (1080 60i, changed to progressive to match the original media). When placed on the timeline, the end audio on each clip is flatlined and the files do not appear to be contiguos, even though it should be one long 24 minute take (I know about the FAT file limit).
How do I import these without the missing audio?
Thanks for any help.
Ken

Well, I discovered that when the files are imported into V10 as a group, they show up in the timeline in proper order and render out to Sony.mxf correctly, with no audio break. Takes time to transcode, but the mxf files play back at full speed in Preview Full on a dual core laptop. Way easier to edit in multicam mode!

On long shoots with older avchd cams the file is split to avoid hitting the fat file limit. The camera does not finish or close the GOP. It simply splits the file. As a result Vegas does not recognize the split gop's and ends up simply removing that portion leaving you with kind of a hole.

These long files need to be rejoined BEFORE importing to Vegas so the gop that got split can become whole again. You can do this by using the supplied software to import from the cam, or use the dos "join" command. I believe even TSmuxer (free download) even works with its join command.

Thanks Rob,
I spoke too soon. The mxf render on the second card still has the audio breaks.
At 5 1/2 hours to re-render 1/2 hour of AVCHD to mxf, I'll just sync up to the master audio track (recorded on my DVX100a) and lose the others after the edit.
I'll see if I can get the Sony software for future use (these were not my cameras).
Probably available for download somewhere on the Sony site.
Thanks again,
Ken

Ken, in Vegas Pro you can use Device Explorer to import the contents of the SD card.
It will join split clips due to the 4 Gig limit on cards formatted as FAT.

In the menu bar (in Vegas) go to view > device explorer.

Or with Ctrl+Alt+7.
