Importing AVCHD files into VMS 8.0c

Hi, I just bought a new Sony camera and want to import the AVCHD files into my Vegas Movie Studio 8.0c. The support department tells me that I cannot email this question to them because I am not allowed support since I have a Legacy product. So, here I am.

I just spent a year saving up for a camera, and cannot afford squat for software. I am told that if I have Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 PLATINUM, I can import these files, but I cannot with version 8,0c NON Platinum

My question is

HOW DO I UPGRADE TO VERSION 8.0 PLATINUM?

Unless you can find some other version 8 Platinum user willing to sell you their license, you can't.

But, you wouldn't want to anyway. If you're going to upgrade anyway, go for version 10 which supports AVCHD far, far better than version 8 does. It won't cost you anymore for the version 10 Platinum upgrade than the version 8 Platinum upgrade would have if you could have gotten it.

Chienworks is right. If you're going to upgrade, you must upgrade to version 10 PLATINUM, otherwise you will end up with a version 8 that BARELY supports AVCHD, and it's super-slow, and it crashes a lot too with that kind of footage. Version 10 is more optimized for it.
