importing avi files

I wanted to import some avi files from my still/movie camera that I previously saved to my harddrive, into the time line, but will only import the audio portion and not the video portion. Other ones I dont have a problem with. Not sure whats going on.

Your files are probably in MJPEG format, and you don't have a suitable codec installed. Search this forum for MJPEG and you'll find a number of suggestions. I've only had this problem once, and I ended up using a freeware conversion utility called "Bink & Smacker". It worked well, though getting the right codec would probably have been better (if only I'd known!).
