Importing HD Video

I have just purchased a new Sony HDR-XR500V Camcorder. I am having problems importing the video into vegas. Vegas evedently wants to use firewire and the camcorder only has USB2. I have used the software that came with the camera and then brought it into Vegas but the quality is not there. any sugestions?

You simply copy the files from the camera over USB to a folder on your hard disk, then from the Explorer window in Vegas drag them onto the timline. You do not 'capture' from the camera.

You might also be able to use the Device Explorer in V9, assuming you have V9 of course.
