Importing Markers from Vegas ??? Not Importing

Denicio wrote on 4/4/2005, 6:54 AM
Hey guys,
I need some help here.

I have had several videos i rendered down to author in DVD Arct 2. I made sure the "Export Markers" check box was checked.
BUT for some reason, DVD Arct is not using them.

I test burnt a DVD last evening and when i click to advance to the next chapter, it goes to the next "Menued" item.

Is there a setting in DVD Arct that i need to toggle?

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Make sure that you have files with the extension "SFL" in the same directory with your MPEG and AC3 files. For DVD to import the markers automatically, the marker file (the SFL file) must have exactly the same name as the MPEG-2 file, but with the SFL extension added, e.g., if your MPEG-2 file is called "WEDDING.MPG" then the marker file must be named "WEDDING.MPG.SFL"

OK, now i am confused.
I thought just rendering with the check mark saying 'render with markers' was all i need to do, so now i must export & import a marker file too?

Checking that box exports the markers to a .sfl file. That file must be in the same directory as the .mpg file in order for DVD Architect to see the markers.

I may be wrong, since I create most of my chapters within DVDA, but don't you also have to hit the "Load Markers" button in DVDA? If the SFL file is there, DVDA will find it without you telling it where, but I'm pretty sure you have to at least hit that button to let it know you want to use the file created by Vegas.

I think the load markers button lets you "refresh" the markers if you updae the SFL file. Normally, the markers should be there, if the SFL file is in the same directory as the MPEG file and is named the same.

Dennis, you normally don't need to do anything other than click on that checkbox when you render from Vegas. However, if you move the MPEG-2 file to another folder, or rename it, then you have to move or rename the SFL file as well. That is usually why people have trouble getting the markers to import.

Yep, you're right. I just ran a test.

If I render to AVI, the markers are saved in the file itself. If I render to MPEG,Vegas creates an SFL file. In both cases, DVDA loads the markers automatically.

Dennis, you are setting markers, and not regions in Vegas, right? (Just checking.)
