importing media

I want to combine several completed projects, as I've been working on a large piece in small chunks. However, when I click import media, it will only offer me clips and not full projects.
How do I do this? Can I do this?

Open up each individual project and render them one at a time to new DV .avi files. Then start a new empty project and place those new DV files on the timeline.
