importing media

When I import media it is always resized to be the dimensions of the video is there any way of keeping it the same size as the original?

At the top of the dialog box you will see the word Template and to the right of this is a series of icons.

Click the icon that looks like a Windows Folder - this is the Match Media Settings option. When you click it, you can select your clip, and Vegas will match the project settings to the properties of the clip.

So, for instance, if your clip were 4:3 24P, Vegas would adjust the project settings to those values.
