Importing .MOV

Jameson_Prod wrote on 2/25/2009, 5:05 AM
I am attempting to convert a .MOV file to .WMV or mpeg for viewing on the pc. (computers do not have Quicktime installed....client wanting to use WMP).

I am able to import the both video and audio but they do not stay in sync....starts fine and then drifts to maybe 5 seconds off by the end. Approximately 8 minute clip. Any suggestions on settings or other things to try to keep audio and video in sync would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I could be mistaken, but I think you have to have Quicktime installed in order to play/use .mov files.

Open the MOV file in Quicktime and see what codec and audio compression was used.

Quicktime is installed. Since it was just background talking to "computer screen" video, I was able to use Time Stretch in SF to get it pretty close....close enough anyways.

Thanks for the help.

I see now, the client's computers do not have QT, right?

My bad...

I didn't explain well. You're correct. The original training video was a .mov file. The client's computers didn't have Quicktime so it was either load Quicktime on all computers or change the video format. I had Quicktime on my computer...just couldn't get Vegas to import the file without the audio being about 5 to 10 seconds shorter than the video length. Luckily, "exact" sync wasn't necessary.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
