importing .mts crashes

When trying to import .mts files Vegas crashes every time. I have tried updating and now have version 8.01 build 139 running on XP sp2 but the problem remains. Other formats import without errors (apart from vob). Any advice appreciated.

There is likely a discontinuity of some kind in your file. I had this problem a couple of times and had to use Avidemux to save out a new file. At least it would load a problem file without crashing.

Can you download the free trial of V10 and see if the can load in that version?

May want to run Mediainfo (free download); also what is the source of the mts file?

Vegas Movie Studio 8 does not support HDV. Period.

So the suggestion to download VMS 10 Platinum is valid.
