Importing pictures

I am aware that you can import still pictures from a camcorder of CD drive. But is it possible to import still pictures for a project from the hard drive.

Of course. Simply drag them to the timeline exactly the same way you would with video clips. Movie Studio allows you to use .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, .tga, and .tif files and possibly others as well too.
