Importing .swf files

I was trying to import a Macromedia Flash .smf file into Vegas from an internet link and have not been able to pull it off yet. The best I could do was highlight the link to the movie, right click on save target as [ to desktop ] them import that into Vegas. The file opens but has no audio, is missing some text, and overall looks different than the Flash movie [ black backround instead of white etc. ]This is unprotected material and I really wanted to put it into Vegas so I could burn a DVD of it. Vegas supports .smf files so am I doing something wrong? Does it have anything to do with the Flash file being set up to stream for the net that is causing the problem?
Thanks
Jeff

I assume you mean .swf files. Yes, some flash files do load from other files - other .swf's, xml, etc. In addition, it may be setup to load fonts locally rather than embedded - so you'll get a substitution with your system fonts most likely.

I would add too that .swf's are often protected from import - usually for import into Flash, Swish, etc (to prevent unauthorized use of course). I don't know if this would affect Vegas' import, but if it isn't public domain, freeware or a purchased library clip, this could be the case.

You are correct, I meant .swf files. you are probably right about some
aspects being loaded locally etc, I find it rather strange as it is a short training/sales video for an expensive product that I'm sure the manufacturer would be more that happy to show to the entire world for free. Could be their IT guy overcomplicated the video to protect his/her job. Might be other legitimate reasons but I find it very odd from a marketing standpoint. I forgot to mention the downloaded desktop file will open and play fine with the explorer browser,

Thanks
