importing targa sequence

I wonder if anyone can help me with this ... I've read all the related posts and I can't find an example of anyone having the same problem, at least not without resolving it with the steps I've already taken.

I'm trying to import a tga sequence, but whatever I do I can't get the 'import still image sequence' checkbox active in the import media dialog. I have the full version of Vegas, and I've tried every possible permutation of filenames in an attempt to get Vegas to recognize them as a sequence (pcseventeen0000.tga, pcseventeen0001.tga, etc. / e0.tga, e1.tga etc. / 0000.tga, 0001.tga etc.). Nothing is working and it's driving me up the wall. As far as I can see there's nothing wrong with the targas, I can import them as individual stills but then I'm left with the unenviable task of setting the alpha channel for each individually.

Is this likely to be an issue with the targa files? I'm also wondering if this is a registration issue (I'm not sure if this is the same for all copies of vegas but despite entering my serial number and registering, I still get those options in the help menu every time). I'm at my wit's end.

Please help!!

As I recall, you have to have Quicktime installed to read targa files.
Another option would be to convert your targas to a format like png which still keeps alpha info. Use a program like IrfanView to do a (very quick) batch conversion.
As far as alpha channel issues, there are scripts out there to automate this for you. Try a search on the VASST site.

I have version 4 but I have been able to import targas as a sequence, so I can't help there but,

if you have to import individual Targas, you should be able to SELECT ALL of them in the MEDIA POOL and set the alpha channel all at one time.

I've always been able to import TGA's in V4 & V6. They are done with a funy compression or something, are they? Infact, I just imported ~3500 HD TGA's in to V6 a few days ago. I used to do that with V4 too.

When you opened the "Import" dialog and see your .tga files, did you select one? The "Open Still Image Sequence" check box will not activate unless one of the files is selected first.

Sorry to come in so late on this one, and good luck.
