Is it safe to assume that your HandyCam is recording in DVD format onto the disc?

If so, do a search on posts about "working with VOBs".

If not, what format is it recording in? Put another way, when you see the files on your drive, what are the file names?

You've also got the audio to contend with - it's in AC-3 format, and MS can't handle that.

Hi Ralph :O), have you found something new about editing video from your Handycam? I have been searching the market for few month and I have not found a software that would be compatible with my DVD 201 Handycam. I have the same problem as you. I just bought Movie Studio + DVD software today and the manager of that Sony store told me this will work with my camcorder for sure. So I am wondering what have I missed...:O(( I am desperate. Please, help me.. anybody..
When I capture a video and input a DVD in the computer, the files come up like this:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
But the Movie Studio does not take it.:O((
Thank you for any help.

This subject has been discussed many times here - try searching for "handycam". There have been a number of suggestions, but I don't remember anybody coming back to say they'd worked.
