Importing video

I just got the vegas software and a new Panasonic camcorder. When I import the video there is no audio with it. I don't know why.

Have you "heard" the tape in question? Meaning, are you sure you have audio captured to begin with?

If you're capturing with USB make sure the capture application settings are correct. I had a similar problem with my Sony camera - the capture app that came with the camera isn't very good and it's not clear how the settings should be to get the audio.

Like many others here I'd advise using FireWire if you're not already.

If your camera is a DV or Digital8 camera, then you MUST capture via Firewire.

Thanks a bunch. I am using USB and thanks for telling me about the firewire. Does the firewire connect to the slot on the camcorder labled DV??

USB is definitely the problem. Stick with firewire and you'll be MUCH happier. Yes, the plug labeled "DV" should be the firewire connection.
