Importing video from cell phones? 3g2 codec?

I am working on a project where I need to use video from a cellphone. Is there a way to import this format or a codec to use. I have the files from the phone but Vegas will have nothing to do with them. I have looked for a codec but can't seem to come up with anything. I am open to suggestions.

Thanks, William

Don't know about cellphones, but to import video from still cameras, you often have to first install a Motion JPEG (MJPEG) codec. Ed Troxel (jetdv) describes this here:

How do I open AVI files create by still cameras?

I particularly like the Mainconcept codec, and you may be able to use the demo, if all you want to do is read the files into Vegas.

it is some kind of mpeg4 format. I think this is what phone companies use to stream video content used on cell phones.

I'm doing a project with a band where they want to use video shot from live shows on fans' cell phones.

I tried downloading a program that I found via google but it was sort of a player converter that mostly locked up.

The very latest version of Vegas (6.0c) will import MPEG-4. For earlier versions of Vegas, do a search on MPEG-4 or Divx in this forum

I will have to check it out at my studio later. I've been trying to get it going on my laptop which is still 6b.
