In older versions of Vegas Video, I could turn on the snap to grid, set the spacing to 32nd notes, and it would allow me snap audio or video to a 128th note grid. Which is how I did the sawtooth sounding drum parts in my music video.
Now in 2.0g, if I set the spacing to 32nd notes, it will only snap to 32nd notes. Sure, this sounds logical and makes more sense, but I miss that 128th note grid snap. Setting the spacing to ruler marks will allow to get notes that close, but seems a bit too confusing.
Well, it was even a bit confusing with the old method I must say. For instance, say if I've got the cursor set on the start of bar 20. That's 20.1. I zoom in a notch using the mouse wheel and it becomes 20.1.000, so I still know where I am. Next I zoom in again and I lose the 20.1.000 marker and end up somewhere inbetween 19.4.048 and 20.1.008. So now there's no indication at all apart from a tiny notch, where the actual start of that bar is. If I zoom in again I find myself inbetween 19.4.060 and 20.1.011. I then have to zoom in another five times so that I can once again see the line for 20.1.000. I must ask why it's like that? It just doesn't make sense. It should work so that you zoom in one notch and see the lines for 32nd notes, zoom in again and see the lines for 48th notes, then 64th notes, 96th notes, and finally 128th notes. But never losing the line that shows you the start of the bar or beat.
Essentially, having it like this would speed up the work flow. There'd be less time spent trying to find a particular time position.
