I have a station that now wants all shows sent as IMX 30. OK. So I render timeline as a MFX 50 with a IMX 30b s. Send it to them via FTP. next day they clam is not a IMX? I thought MFX and IMX are the same family? Then they call back and say the file I sent is not a "Movie File" I am thinking thats a Quicktime .mov? Now I know I have FCP retards I am dealing with, But it could be me. Do any of you know a file that Vegas can render to that is like a IMX Quicktime file. Please help. Oh and this is from a cable network that untill now only would take BetaSP Tape....UUGG

afaik, you're not going to get Apple IMX out of anything running Windows, at least not inexpensively.
If you don't have ready access to FCP, ask them if they'll accept Avid DNxHD as an alternative.

Here are some important discussions about this from the Apple end of things.
Looks like the station should find it a fairly easy task to convert your MXF directly in FCP

Yea, I found this: QuickTime IMX but it's $495 USD and it's playback only on the PC so you can't create IMX from it.

I second the idea to ask them if they'll accept an alternative format but I am always amazed at how little FCP editors actually know about the technology they use every day.

JR,
I also found this playback-only (no encode) item for $60.

I have no idea if it is DirectShow or VFW.

Buffalo,
You might point the station editors to this link:

They might be able to use Sony's FCP plugin called PDZKP1. It is available here.

I have used it to import XDCAM EX .mxf files into FCP but not IMX. This plugin rewraps .mxf to .mov.
