in-out vs new clip question

Hello,

I am preparing a DVD that will make lots of use of playlists. I have everything edited in Vegas. I can go through and render each section into a separate .mpg file.... or, I could just render the whole timeline into a single .mpg with markers.

In the latter approach, I would then import the single .mpg as many times as needed, renaming it and seting in/out points at the appropriate markers. I'm wondering if this might be a better way to go since the end-users' DVD players would only have to think about "1 mpg file"... or is either way just as good?

Really looking forward to your thoughts.

Thanks!
Jeff

If you ever anticipate that you may need to change just one clip, then rendering as individual MPG's would mean you don't need to re-render the entire project to handle one small change to one clip. Otherwise both methods are equal.

Both have some pros/cons. A couple of benefits with ONE long title is if you plan to have a "Playall" button that just plays from the start to finish -- you won't see any "slight pauses" during playback versus stringing multiple Titles into a long playlist. Also, the NEXT/PREV buttons can work better when navigating ONE title (vs. Titles strung together in a Playlist).
