I think the terminology is capture. I am only getting the audio captured in mono form. The person videotaping is using an external mic which we tested and I captured it in stereo the 1st 2 times. Subsequently, the rest of the captures have only been in mono form. I am trying to determine if the problem is on this end or the videotaping end. I am guessing mine since it worked correctly during the test period. Regardless of how it happened, I would like to a)correct future capturing and b) convert (right word?)the mono into stereo. Is this possible is Sony Vegas Plat 7.0 or in the Pro form of this software? Is there another software that I would need to buy to do this??
What type of camera? How are you capturing the video to the computer? USB or Firewire?
If the external mic is stereo, but you're only getting the left side, it's possible the plug wasn't pushed in all the way.
If the video truly contains only the left side on the tape, then you may be able to duplicate the audio track (right click on audio track and choose Duplicate Track) then pan the duplicated track to the right side giving you pseudo stereo.
If the tape does contain stereo audio, then you may have to capture your video again.
I'm not sure if the studio version has this feature, but take a look anyway ...
Right-mouse-button-click on the audio clip. From the menu that pops up click on Channels, then choose Left only. This will convert the track to mono and whatever was recorded on the left channel will now play back through both the left & right speakers.
