G'day,
Has anyone experienced inconsistent reports on frame loss?
I am capturing video from an analog camera via the Canopus ADVC-100 converter. During the capture, the frame loss counter stays at zero. However, when the capture is halted, the box that pops up indicates significant frame losses (e.g., up to 550, usually in the 300s).
Has anyone experienced this inconsistent reporting? Which one should I believe?
In order to reduce frame loss, I have a separate video drive, 7200 rpm hard disks, 500m of RAM, a 1.8g processor, an almost-isolated IRQ for the firewire card and so on. Theoretically, this should reduce the likelihood of frame losses, but I'm completely confused by one report saying there isn't any frame loss and the other report indicating huge numbers.
Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Doug
