Incorrect aspect ratio, how to change en masse?

pegmac wrote on 3/13/2011, 8:43 AM
I right clicked on the event and chose 'select events to end' in order to drag the whole event towards the left. So far so good!
However, I must have inadvertently clicked something else as, now, everything to the right, when shown in the preview window has a black band down each side.
I cannot find how to change the aspect ratio to 4:3 (or whatever) though I have seen it and know it's there.
I would like to change all of the event to the right at one time rather than use the pan/crop tool for each individual section.
Can someone please help me as I spent a couple of hours searching for it last night.

Are you trying to change it for your entire project?

If so, go to the Project menu and select Properties. (You can also click on the Video Project Properties button on the Preview window.)

Thank you for your help, I will try that.
Yes, I need to change it for all the of the event not yet edited.
What I have edited is OK, but I must have done something to change the ratio in all the unedited media.

I have now had another look at my event and find that the first half of what's on the timeline looks the correct ratio whereas the second half has black bands down the sides of the picture in the preview window.
BUT the strange thing is that the settings are identical for both sets of clips.
The settings under the picture in the preview window read as follows:
Project: 1920x1080x32, 25000i
Preview: 1920x1080x32, 25000i Display:519x292x32

If the settings are identical, then why are the pictures not identical?
I just do not understand it and am getting thoroughly fed up with the unexplained problems I am having with this programme.

In Project Menu>Properties>Template, what is the correct setting for watching your DVD on a wide screen tv in the UK?
I think I have the incorrect settings in the work I have done so far as it is NTSC which I think is for the USA. Is that correct?

Yes NTSC is used in the USA and many other counties. PAL is ised in the UK, so you need PAL Widescreen.

Thank you for your help, I have now corrected it.
