Incorrect cursor times in Trimmer and Motion Blur issues

Mikeeer wrote on 12/10/2002, 9:55 PM
1) When I capture Video using Vegas all is well from a quality standpoint but when I open an hour long clip in the trimmer it appears with a start time other than zero, meaning the furthest to the left I can go in the trimmer sets the cursor at anything from a few seconds to potentially minutes off of zero. The clip however is at it's zero point based on the original tape. On the other end the tape length is off as well. example I capture 1 hour and 25 minute of video, furthest left start point in the trimmer after capture is 5 min 55 seconds. Furthest left 6 min 47 seconds. How can I clear this to read zero on the left and the actual time on the right without rendering the entire clip to a new AVI file my current work around that does the trick but takes time and drive space.

2) When I render a clip to an AVI and leave apply any sort of motion blur, with or without Resample the frame rate being checker and reguardless of exposure time setting the resulting rendered file flutters and is jerky. Not at all clear and this happens whether I view the file in Vegas or Windows Media Player. Why does this happen and how can I use the motion Blur function and have it work properly?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

1)
You might try right-clicking on the trimmer ruler and selecting SMPTE drop-frame 29.97 (If you are NTSC).

2)
For motion blur, are you checking the resample switch on the event or the project?

I'll try #1

On Number 2 I am checking the blur box that is available as follows.

File>Render As>When the render as box pops up select AVI and then click the custom button. One the custom settings dialog box you will see a selection for Motion blur type. Does that help?

Hi Mike,

There is also a switch on the event in the timeline (right-click >properties) to activate resample for the event(s).

You might try that...

P.S. Why exactly are you applying motion blur?
