I have not had much luck with the indexing either - therefore i dont use it. One CD player - a new Sony professional studio "quality" cd player actually ignored the indices. Well I have just accepted, the issue and use explicit tracks with 0 second "increments".

I have no trouble inserting indexes. So CDA5 aint inherently broken. Maybe a wrier/firmware issue ?

You need a *player* that supports indexes though.

Well I wrote the CD with 2 burners: Plextor Premium and Yamaha CRW-F1.
Am I to belive that both burners have firmware issues??
Those 2 are considered to be the best, internal burners out there, for Audio anyway.

I use Indexes regularly in CDA5, Plex Premium and others. No problems. Ever. CD player does not need to be 'pro' to recognise index marks, and inserting them is a no-brainer, so can't imagine where your problem is coming from...

Well, I CAN imagine where the problem is. I have had the same thing.

I burned a master CD about a week ago. It had track indices, and they showed up fine on all players, both PC and HiFi. We decided to make a few changes to some of the track silence gaps to better reflect the pace of the album. Lo and behold, the track indices would not work anymore! I tried removing them and reinserting them, but the burned CD still showed no sign of them. I finally gave up and inserted full track markers, which worked Ok. It is still annoying though.
