Indy or Indie

I notice on this site indy and indie have almost the same amount of references, however, on search engines it's almost 10 to 1 for Indie

Is it Indy Films or Indie Films

I've never seen it spelled "indy".

Indy is also used for the Car races, and over here (Oz) Indie is more common for films.
