"Insert Text Media" - how?

I have edit my first video.

And I have edit the audio and edit the music from a CD into my film.

I am happy and proud so far.

But when I shall do the most basic, have som text on my video, i can't do that.

I place the cursor on the first track on my video and clcik the "Insert Text Media" from "edit", but the "Insert Text Media" all the time is then pushing the first track forward. I have also tried to mark the whole first track and then click ont the "Insert Text Media" but the result is the same.

What am I doing wrong?

To be more carefully, my intent is to have some text in the beginning of the film, on the videoclip itself, the first 7 seconds, I mean the text shall be placed upon the first clip on my film.

Can anyone explain in a simple manner how I do that?

The text needs to be on a separate video track, above the background video. Insert a NEw Video track, then insert text media on that track.

And make sure you untick the auto-ripple button in the toolbar.

Thank you, now I understand little more.

I have open a new video track above the background video and I have inserted Text Media on that.

But the main problem is still there.

You see, I want to have text upon my first videotrack. But I want to see my film at the same time! Not any background color or something like that together with the text.

I want to see the beginning of my film togheter with a text, for instance, "A Beautiful Day In The Forest" for seven seconds in the beginning of the film with the forest in the background and the text above that.

I don't know if I can explain better, but I will try if you don't understand. But it can't be difficult to understand me, because so many film you see in TV are in that way.

Just use the Default Text, it is just the text with a transparent background. Then whatever video you have on the track directly below the text will show through as the background for the text.

[ Text ] - Video track 1
[ Video you want underneath text ] - Video track 2

You have to assign a transparent background to the text. Either do this under the Text color options, or select the Template that shows the transparent background.
